I believe that there may be some confusion here (imagine that). I am under the impression that the article referred to Wayne County as opposed to Wayne City. The county will still have a dispatcher for their 911 system and 3 other employees in the department but the road deputies have been let go and the State Police are supposed to take up the slack. However, the State Police in that district are stretched to the max as it is now with their duties concerning traffic control and investigations and I don't see how the citizens of Wayne County can expect the same level of protection as before.

When you're up to your ass in alligators, it's hard to remember that the original plan was to drain the swamp.
