All burning shall take place between sunrise and sunset ONLY! (there are exceptions made for recreational type fires such as wiener roasts but they must meet all other criteria!)

All fires must be a MINIMUM of 25 feet from any structure.

All fires MUST have a charged hose available and be attended at ALL times.

Burning is prohibited during rainy or drought conditions.

All materials being burned must be dry and burn cleanly.

Permitted materials allowed to be burned are: lawn and leaf refuse, twigs, and small sticks. THAT IS ALL.

Materials NOT permitted include but are not limited to: any construction materials, garbage or refuse, furniture, standing structures, tree piles, etc.

This is from the link avatar provided. In Decatur, burning is banned AGAINST the wishes of the majority. In the county(Macon), if it'll burn, you can legally burn it.

Never underestimate radical vision

Johnnybob - You should be banned for sure. This forum is not a place for you to set up your podium and preach your weirdness. Sorry moderator, but somebody has to say something. I don't come on here to hear about this crap time and time again. It's like a Suzie pull string doll whose hands are taped to the string and it keeps pulling its own strings.

Have you every watched Midnight Express?

I actually enjoy the dialog, what there is of it, with JB.

Jb does bring up serious issues that should be discussed seriously.

We can have fun with it, but they are very serious issues.

The Romans had their forum of open discussions. This is one of ours.

I, personally, do not like being told to shut up or accussed of Spaming, but that is one nature of a forum. Everyone has a say based upon their own beliefs and opinions.

This thread is about the burning of leaves.

I agree with JB that it is wrong to do that.

I just want to know what has been attempted to stop that practice in Jefferson County.

ANTI-ESTABLISHMENTARIANISM----My Motto

Note: I guess I should really stop doing this, but it is kinda a throw back to junior high when you would grab the nerdy kid's beanie and play "keep away' with it. (I know, because I was the nerd with the beanie! )

Maybe I am enjoying my second childhood. Whoopee!!!!

JB, your rants and temper tantrums excite the same kind of instincts that can be seen in animals when another animal trys to run away. The instinct is to chase. When you start on your issues, which are not crazy issues, the methods of presentation seems to bring out the worse in people like me, patriot, and shitroc. I apologize, but I don't know if I can stop.

I'm hooked. I've got JB's monkey on my back---and he is trying to steal my matches. OOooohhhhhh

It's not funny. Those are expressions of anti-social behavior. Burning leaves DOES harm your neighbors, and yourself, even if you don't care. Good luck with your lung cancers! Personally I prefer to avoid that, and nobody has the right to impose their carcinogens on me! The air is communal, an environmental resourse, and nobody owns it. We all share it. It must be kept clean and pure for everyone to breathe.

What do you say to someone who has bad breath?

How about your relatives who smoke JB...... whadya tell them?

We are perfectly capable and able to ban people when it is necessary. We don't need pleas from others to do so. If the rules are violated then the proper actions will be practiced. Till then have fun and enjoy your time here.

When I first started with this issue several years ago, a friendly member of the city council gave me a reference to pursue. I seem to recall that it was a local doctor who had a similar view. Most of what I do is via the internet.

JB, this pretty much says it all. You care about the leaf burning, but just not quite enough to actually pursue any real avenues of change. It is therefore hard to take your rantings seriously, because YOU don't take it seriously enough to make a change. If you want to make a difference you will have to get more involved than posting on a forum. No one is doing to do your dirty work for you JB!

JB, Great info.

Again, thank you for taking the time to do the research and then clean up the font, etc., so we could read it.

Very valid information.

Now, everyone, how can we use this?

Well, isn't that special. It seems that JB was being quite explicit on his thoughts of Badgirl being on this forum in the "HELLO" thread and finally I said something to the effect that he should "moderate" his own forum and leave the moderating of this forum to you. Now, larry(whatisname) makes a suggestion concerning the appropriatness of a member and you are at the guns to put him in his place faster than a chicken in Somalia. Hmmmm

I guess it's all subjective isn't it?

Perhaps you need to change the rules yet again to prohibit members from posting admonisments to or about the posts of other members in terms of being within the bounds of forum decorum.

No, the same goes for Jb also. No one really needs to plea for a banishment of other members.
What you wrote and what Larrybob wrote were 2 different things.

I don't see that as a fair criticism. The person who does research is not necessarily the person who should appear in public to press for change. I am not a politician and have no desire to be.

It will take more than one person to accomplish this task. I've done some of the research. You do some of the leg work. That seems a reasonable division of labor to me.

If the person doing the research REALLY wanted change that bad, that person would do the leg work as well. That was the point I am trying to make. You are trying to get other people involved in these crusades of yours, but your attempt at leadership has never been by example.

I know that buring leaves is bad, everyone does! Any kind of smoke is a carcinogen, that's a known fact. However, its just the easiest way to get rid of lawn debris quickly. It may not be the best way, buts its the most efficient way. Sure, I could make a mulch pile and let it sit in my backyard for a year, but its an eyesore, not to mention one more thing to mow around. I'd rather just burn the leaves in one day and be done with em! Maybe you'll call it lazy...I call it working smarter not harder!

I miss these conversations we use to have on the RN forums JB...I have been away too long!!

If you can find an original topic that smitroc has posted , or larry bobchopper stopper ,let me know. I won’t spend anymore time on itroc.

Moderator: I’m getting sick and tired of bluebelly calling me names. It says explicitly that name calling is not allowed. I’m asking you to enforce your own rules and temporarily ban bluebelly.

Thank you,

PS – Blue – I am not Smitrock and I don’t appreciate you calling me names. I have never attacked you. I am commenting on JB using this forum as a platform to spread his own (weird to say the least) personal interests. I could handle an occasional opinion here and there about burning or helicopters, but, this is crazy. Especially after one considers the audience. Think about this. There are a handful of people on this forum that are regulars. Hasn’t everyone heard about these topics again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, etc……………………………………….? If this isn’t hijacking and spamming, I don’t know what is.

Use your minds people.

MODERATOR……………..PLEASE……………………………………..

Have a nice day,

Poor LarryBobSmutRok is sick and tired. Boo hoo. Now back to our regular programing. In reference to the leaf burning, I'm curious as to the danger when the burning is outside and the smell alone intrudes on the complaintant. Is this still a danger to persons? Does the smoke pose a hazard to people when the wind is blowing and causes the smoke to be mixed with more "fresh air"? I've read about dangers of blowing smoke, but do these dangers present themselves when not confined in a home? Do the same dangers still exist when one breathes it outside?

When you're up to your ass in alligators, it's hard to remember that the original plan was to drain the swamp.

Wow, this really is no different than the RN forums. Some people just not dropping issues that have been brought up time and time again, and others trying to make them stop. Its a vicious, seemingly neverending circle!

Xminer..I was kind of thinking the same thing as you..Obviously smoke is a carcinogen..it does not take an EPA study to understand and know that. But HOW dangerous is the amount of smoke in the air. I guess if a person walked up to a leave fire and stood directly in the smoke it would be unhealthy. But the smoke just blowing in the wind, down the street? How dangerous is that really? I just don't think the concentration of smoke is sufficient to cause the harm that JB is suggesting. I am sure if a person was exposed to these levels every day of their lives for 12 hours it would be...but that's not realistic now is it?

Plus I still stand by by last post.....it gets rid of the debris quickly and easily!!
