Wow...I have never heard of that bad of a reaction to such a small amount of smoke. Especially leaf smoke..which is on the way low end of deadly smoke! And I have been a paramedic for almost 10 years!!! Not that I am doubting you by any means JB..just never experienced or heard of such hypersensitivity!

All it does is bother my nose and gives me a slight headache...kind of like brain freeze from eating ice cream too fast except it lasts the rest of the day. I just deal with it though, I can handle those kinds of headaches considering most times I have migraines.

Wow, this really is no different than the RN forums. Some people just not dropping issues that have been brought up time and time again, and others trying to make them stop. Its a vicious, seemingly neverending circle!

Xminer..I was kind of thinking the same thing as you..Obviously smoke is a carcinogen..it does not take an EPA study to understand and know that. But HOW dangerous is the amount of smoke in the air. I guess if a person walked up to a leave fire and stood directly in the smoke it would be unhealthy. But the smoke just blowing in the wind, down the street? How dangerous is that really? I just don't think the concentration of smoke is sufficient to cause the harm that JB is suggesting. I am sure if a person was exposed to these levels every day of their lives for 12 hours it would be...but that's not realistic now is it?

Plus I still stand by by last post.....it gets rid of the debris quickly and easily!!

Welcome back MVN_CITIZEN! I also agree with you on this one.

JB, your credibility is seriously diminished by your lack of personal commitment. No body (with a very few exceptions) will be willing to align themselves with a crack pot. If you believe what you say, follow through with what you believe in.

As far as your studies and links against leafs burning... I am confident that if someone wanted to take the time there are just as many studies and links that support leafs burning.

As for me, I prefer to bring my leafs to 8th street in Mt. Vernon and burn them there. I have been working on a system to drop my burning leafs from helicopters.

Guys, what if JB is handicapped and cannot physically do that? For all I know, he/she could actually be Stephen Hawking (one of the smartest men on earth but bound to a wheelchair due to ALS).

I know, from reading some of his posts, that he suffers from breathing bad air; he uses a HEPA system.

This thread is about burning of leaves and the pollution it causes.

I really agree with his opinions on this one issue. I do not have to agree or disagree on the others.

However, one little caveot is that I like the scent of burning leaves as it means autum is here. I know the stuff that smells good is bad for me (like ice cream) but, so what.

My community prohibits burning leaves and trash. That makes me happy.

Maybe someday, the people in Illinois and the rest of the world will become educated enough to stop burning leaves and trash and tobacco (not trying to hijack the thread).

Good bye.

ok....so rather than responding to my opinions on your forum, you are just going to keep them from being shared? That's real adult behavior............I am laughing so hard at getting banned from your forum right now!! Its just funny!!

Is it one of those you guys don't play fair so I'm taking my ball and going home kinda moments?

It is sufficient, don't worry I will still get my opinions out!

It's still funny I got banned from JB's forum the day after I joined!! I only posted like 2 messages on it! And it was nothing controversial or questionable! I think he just has it in for me.......

I am of the opinion that any kind of open flame is a waste of energy and is polluting the atmosphere. I can think of no reason to burn any matter because as you know matter cannot be destroyed but only changed.

Any forward thinking society has now or will in the foreseeable future ban all forms of open burning. Composting may not be the answer but what else can we do at the present time if we insist on ridding ourselves of what we call the nuisance of fallen leaves ? I mulch mine and that seems to work in my case, maybe you will have to bag your’s for
disposal. I would think you would feel somewhat better for not adding to the our ever growing problem of air pollution. Sooner or later you will not have a choice to burn or not to burn, so why not start today and see if you as an individual can make a little difference in your very own environment.

do you feel threatened Patriot?

Only if he starts waving his drool cup and hitting me with it. (Some time ago JBDaddy admitted to a young girl that he was toothless... I believe it was over him giving chess lessons).

This is one issue on which I agree with Johnny Bob. Leaf burning should be banned. It is bad for everyone's health and you can't get away from it. People have a right to breathable air.

I don't usually respond to this type of message, I look at it like one of those big ole' green headed flies that swarm around dog poop. But I must clear up one point. The "little faggot" statement. I am 6'1' and weigh 220 lbs. and wear size 13 boots. "Little" I ain't.
